As scientists and engineers tackle the problems presented by declining energy resources, thinking 'outside the box' has become more important than ever.

Take a look at how an Idaho electrical engineer proposes to replace petroleum-based asphalt roads with linear solar collectors to power half of the nation's electrical needs and reduce green house gas emissions by the same amount.

In this short video, Solar Roadways, inventor Scott Brusaw demonstrates his prototype of the world’s first solar-powered highway on a parking lot in the small community of Sagle, Idaho.
